HEALTH & SAFETY PROTOCOLS

Two men, one of whom has a tattoo sleeve and is wearing a feather headdress, are kneeling on a sandy surface next to a woman lying on the ground with her eyes closed. The man with the feather headdress is holding the woman's hand, and the other man is supporting her head and shoulder. The setting appears to be outdoors.

With decades of experience and thousands of guests welcomed into our care, we have developed thoughtful protocols to ensure your medicine journey is transformative.

Comprehensive Medical Screening

Safety begins long before you arrive in Alto Paraíso. Our intake process is designed to identify potential contraindications and ensure that the botanical protocols are biologically compatible with your unique health profile.

  • Clinical Intake: Every participant undergoes a detailed health assessment to review medical history, current physiological health, and psychological readiness.

  • Expert Consultation: For individuals with specific pre-existing health conditions or complex medical histories, we provide a mandatory consultation with our licensed medical doctor. This ensures that your participation is grounded in professional medical advice rather than generalized wellness trends.

The TAPA Protocol

antidepressants and psychedelic therapy

We specialize in navigating the complexities of pharmaceutical interactions, particularly regarding antidepressant prescriptions (SSRIs, SNRIs, and MAOIs). To ensure both safety and the efficacy of the medicine, we utilize the TAPA Protocol.

Phase 1: Guided Tapering

If you are currently prescribed antidepressants, our licensed doctor will design a personalized tapering schedule. This protocol is managed with clinical care to:

  • Minimize Withdrawal: Slowly reducing dosage to mitigate "discontinuation syndrome."

  • Clearance Period: Ensuring the medication is no longer active in the system to prevent adverse interactions such as Serotonin Syndrome.

  • Systemic Stabilization: Allowing the body’s neurochemistry to stabilize before introducing botanical facilitators.

Phase 2: Safe Administration

Once the tapering protocol is successfully completed and cleared by our medical lead, we proceed with the administration of the medicine in a controlled, clinical environment. This transition is monitored to ensure the highest level of somatic and psychological safety.
